ASID Florida North Chapter has been invited to attend a day long tour of the Masland Carpet Mill in Saraland, AL., on Tuesday, March 18th from 7:45 am 'til 4:30 pm. We will meet at the Bayou Blvd., Target parking Lot in front of their Garden Center. Departure is 8:00 am sharp!

This complimentary Masland Mill tour is accredited through ASID for .4 CEU credits. Masland will provide the transportation, boxed continental breakfast en route and also a sumptuous luncheon buffet at Masland Corporate Offices in Saraland.

The deadline for entry into the NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association), Emerald Coast Chapter 2007 Design Competition is January 31, 2008. The judging will take place in Pensacola, Florida, on February 15, 2008. Entries must be located in the vicinity of the NKBA Emerald Coast Chapter. For details and entry form contact Katheryn W. ASID is starting a student mentoring program called
Real World Design Week

RealWorld DesignWeek takes place the week of October 19-25th 2008. Students will be asked to sign up for this event. During this week a professional or office can open its doors for up to 5 students (one per day) to shadow them throughout their day. As a professional you can participate only one day with one student or, up to 5 students, one per day. It will be a highly publicized event and there will be a RealWorld DesignWeek website created at which students will be allowed to share their shadowing experiences. Last night’s meeting at Oasis Rugs was a ton of fun as we listened to Lesley Foster, owner of Brown Dog Creative, a local web design and branding boutique graphic design firm, talk about the hottest trends in website design and how to apply those principles to our field. Our hosts Ginger and Ron Weible did a wonderful job with lots of wine and tasty hors d’oeuvres.
Once again, Ward Larisy won the “random” drawing for a give away prize. I’m not sure if the drawings aren’t rigged! He won last month at BoConcept too!
But we love Ward and hope he enjoys the coffee mug! Thanks to everyone who came out in the rain for this event. Please remember that we will not be having regular meetings for the months of June, July and August. We will resume in September at Jaffe Rug Gallery. Have a great summer everyone!!
